Virginia Wall Cochran passed away, Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Virginia was born March 10, 1927 in Cambria, now Christiansburg, VA. She attended Radford University and was inducted into Who’s Who Students in American Colleges and Universities and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She served as editor of the paper her junior year, was president of Kappa Delta Pi, Outstanding Senior, and was published in the Annual Anthology of College Poetry. Virginia taught at two junior colleges upon graduation from Radford.

She attended Hilton Presbyterian Church for many years and loved taking care of the babies while others attended services. She will be remembered for her avid reading, bridge playing, skilled crossword puzzle solving, and her time and dedication to the Republican Party. Her devotion to her family is her ultimate legacy.

Her marriage to Edward Wentworth Cochran, formerly of Cochran Construction Company, brought her to Newport News.

She is survived by her five children, Don Cochran and his wife, Cyndee, Deborah Cochran and her husband, Walter Jubien, James Cochran and his wife, Luci, Jonathan Cochran, and Charles Cochran; her brother Douglas Wall and his wife, Pat; five grandchildren, Christine Owen and her husband, Dee, Ginny Cochran and her fiancé’ Julian Adams, Jake Cochran, Jackie Jubien, and Woody Patrick; one great-grandson, Nathan Owen, and one great-granddaughter, Ellie Bowen.

A private burial will be at Peninsula Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited to gather at 1 Hilton Terrace, at 4 PM, Saturday, March 17, 2012 to celebrate her life.
